Try Something NEW!!!
Instead of sitting and posting and writing about all the food I ate this weekend (which was scattered and mostly unphotographed), I am going to just tell you about some new products/things I tried! I love hearing about things like this from other people so I’m going to give it a try.
PB2 - This actually isn’t the first time I tried it, but I know a lot of people have seen this before and have wondered how it is.
- Pros: It is tasty! Not quite as tasty of PB, but what is?
- Low Calorie!!
- Fun - it’s powdered PB, how cool is that? All you do is mix it with water and it becomes PB!
- Cons: It isn’t near as filling as PB
- It’s not as good for you - the ingredients are peanuts, salt, and sugar instead of just peanuts, or peanuts and salt.
- It’s more expensive and harder to purchase. I had to purchase this online, instead of just heading to my local supermarket.
- Verdict: It depends what you’re going for….if you’re looking for a PB replacement to get the taste of PB but save loads of calories and fat, this is for you. If you’re looking for health and satiety benefits, stick with regular ‘ole Peanut Butter!!
Here they are again! Banana Pancakes. This isn’t anything new that I tried (I also did them last weekend and 1 other time) but this was my favorite combo yet:
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup FF cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup egg whites
- 1/4 cup LF Vanilla Soy Milk
- 2 Bananas (1/2 in mix and 1 1/2 sliced and put in batter while cooking)
*Just mix in blender and bake like normal pancakes!
What I did this time also, was topped it with a little PB and then spread fresh strawberries on top. Double yummers! I made this breakfast for Chad and I Saturday morning, and it held us through a 45 minute strength training workout, and an 8 mile walk home from the gym!!!! Yup, we left the car behind and walked home so that we could get a training walk in for the Walk Wisconsin Marathon we’re doing in June. We were going to walk there AND back, but figured we better not risk it with my darn knee! It was a good thing we didn’t because after the 8 miles it was pretty sore. Afterwards, I picked up Baylee and took her to the dog park for another 3 miles though! Phew :) 11 miles in AND a strength workout! For strength training, I also tried something NEW!!! Resistance Bands!! I’ve used these before with workout videos and in classes at the gym, but never on my own. Let me tell you: Best workout EVER!!! It mixed it up and was exciting, and was a really great workout. I was SO sore on Sunday and that hasn’t happened in a long time! Plus it made it fun because it was something different!
Steamfresh Peas in single Serving
I LOOOOVE these! They are perfect for us because Chad doesn’t like anything but corn and potatoes for veggies, so when I have something, I’m on my own. I’m normally not a huge fan of frozen peas or canned peas, but these Steam In The Bag ones are WONDERFUL!!!! And the serving is just the perfect, perfect size!! Plus they only take 90 seconds in the microwave!
It looks rather boring, but there were 3 new things with this lunch on Saturday.
- Rice made with Chicken Broth instead of water! We actually did this on Friday AND on Saturday because it was so good and added so much flavor! I just used 100% chicken broth instead of water and made it like normal. Chad even loved it - normally he has to add brown sugar and cinnamon to his Brown Rice, but this he enjoyed as is!!!
- Asparagus on the grill with olive oil and sea salt! I’ve made asparagus on the grill before, but it’s been a while because it’s somewhat inconvenient and usually falls through the grates. I’ve been roasting it in the oven lately, but it was so great on the grill!
- Marinated Chicken! Yes, yes, I have marinated chicken before….but it’s been a looooong time! For this, I used the GrillMates marinade packet. It was the Tomato, Basil, and Garlic flavor. Delish! All you do is add Olive Oil, Vinegar, and Water. Add the chicken and let it sit for 15 minutes. We let it sit for about 4 hours to soak up extra flavor. Then pop it on the grill! MMMM
Add fresh fruit to your salad!!! YUM! This is something that I always order at restaurants when they have it and have never tried on my own. I’ve been a big fan lately of adding dried fruit, like blueberries, cranberries, and strawberries, but this time I added fresh Strawberries and then topped it with LF Raspberry Dressing. SO GOOD! If you’re going for more of a filling salad, it’s so delicious to also add toasted walnuts and feta cheese, but this was just a side salad to get some veggies in for me.
So….moral of the story is, go out and try NEW THINGS!!! A lot of people tend to get stuck in dieting and eating, as well as workout ruts. Try something NEW!!! It keeps you motivated and excited about the track you’re currently on. If you find yourself getting burnt out and losing motivation, I guarantee trying new things will help, weather it’s a new way to get cardio in, a new food item, a new recipe….whatever!!!!

Wow I love all of this! Those pancakes look particularly delicious…and I just bought a big container of strawberries over the weekend, so I will definitely be adding them to a salad at some point
Have a great Monday!

Fruit in salad is sooo good. I make a really yummy strawberry salad with oranges and radishes and a lemon dressing. I think it’s one of my favorites. Thanks for the PB2 review; I’ve been debating getting something like it.

Jenn - there ya go! That’s actually why I ended up putting them on a salad - I had bought 3 pounds from Sam’s Club so needed to use them up
Magpie - no problem! I hope you try the PB2 - like I said, it has it’s pros and cons but it’s a great substitute when you need to save calories!
Lizakins - yes, exactly. It’s so fresh and summery!!! MMMM
